Snapper Films’ family hit becomes the first-ever Finnish DVD release to sell platinum. The DVD and Blu-Ray editions were released in Finland by Sandrew Metronome on November 26, 2008.
The two-disk Special Edition includes the English-language version of Christmas Story, featuring the voices of Golden Globe nominee John Turturro (Transformers, Big Lebowski, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?), Noah Emmerich (Pride and Glory, The Truman Show, Cop Land) and Emmy Award winner Michael Badalucco (The Practice).
Theatrically Christmas Story has racked up nearly 290.000 in admissions at the Finnish box office so far. One week prior to the DVD launch, the top-grossing Finnish film of 2007 was re-released in theaters in Finland.
Christmas Story is the feature debut by Juha Wuolijoki and recounts the unique and amazing journey of Santa Claus on his way to becoming the Santa that the world knows and loves. The film, produced by Snapper Films, has won several international awards and has sold to nearly 100 countries with theatrical releases in multiple territories.
The Finnish Platinum DVD award was instituted in February 2008 for DVD releases selling 100.000 units.
